How to add Bank of Georgia installments to your WooCommerce store
Offer BoG installments and Pay in 4 at your WooCommerce checkout: what you need, setup in seven steps, order statuses, refunds and common problems.
What your customers get
Bank of Georgia offers online shoppers two ways to spread a payment, and the plugin adds both to your WooCommerce checkout as separate payment methods:
- Installments. A consumer loan from Bank of Georgia. At checkout the customer sees an estimate of the monthly payment for a term they pick (6 to 48 months); the bank's application page shows the binding rate and terms.
- Pay in 4. Four equal monthly payments at 0% interest, Bank of Georgia's "buy now, pay later" product.
The loan is an agreement between the customer and the bank: the bank decides who is approved. What your shop receives and when (settlement, fees) is set in your agreement with Bank of Georgia.
What you need before you start
- A Bank of Georgia online-payments merchant account with installments (and, if you want it, Pay in 4) available for your business. Ask your BoG manager to confirm.
- Your Client ID and Client Secret for the BoG Payments API, from the BoG developer portal. One pair is used for both methods.
- WordPress 6.0 or newer, WooCommerce 8.3 or newer, PHP 7.4 or newer (8.1+ recommended). Prices in GEL: both methods work in lari only.
- A CodeOn licence for BoG Installments: ₾130 a year for one domain, covering both methods, with a 14-day refund window.
Set it up in seven steps
- Buy the licence on the BOG Installments plugin page. The key arrives by email and appears on your Licences page.
- Download the ZIP from your Downloads page. Don't unzip it.
- Install it in WordPress: Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin, choose the ZIP, then Activate.
- Activate the licence: CodeOn → BOG Installments → License, paste the key, save.
- Enter your BoG credentials: WooCommerce → Settings → Payments → Bank of Georgia — Installment. Paste the Client ID and Client Secret and keep the environment on BOG Sandbox for now.
- Set the amounts and display. By default installments are offered for carts from ₾100 to ₾10,000 and Pay in 4 from ₾50 to ₾2,000; change these to match what BoG allows for your business. You can show a badge on product pages ("Installments available" / "Pay in 4 · 0%") and the monthly-payment estimate at checkout, and set the annual rate the estimate uses (26% by default).
- Test, then go live. Place a test order in sandbox, check that the order updates in WooCommerce, then switch the environment to Production and save.
Enable the Pay in 4 method separately (WooCommerce → Settings → Payments → Buy Now Pay Later — Bank of Georgia) if you want to offer it.
What happens after the customer clicks "Place order"
- The customer is sent to Bank of Georgia's page, where they apply and the bank decides.
- Bank of Georgia notifies your shop. The plugin checks the bank's digital signature on every notification before it reads anything, then updates the order: approved orders are marked paid; rejected applications become Failed, cancelled or expired ones Cancelled.
- If a notification never arrives, an hourly check asks Bank of Georgia for the result, so orders don't get stuck.
Ship only after the order is marked paid (Processing). While the application is still open, the order waits.
Refunds
The Refund button on the WooCommerce order works the same way as for card payments, but Bank of Georgia usually doesn't accept refunds of installment loans through its API. When the bank refuses, the plugin shows the bank's own message in the refund window; arrange that return with Bank of Georgia directly.
When something doesn't work
- The method doesn't appear at checkout. Check the cart total against the minimum and maximum, that prices are in GEL, and that the licence is active.
- "401" or a connection error. The Client ID or Secret is wrong, or sandbox credentials are being used in Production (or the reverse).
- The customer was rejected. That is the bank's decision, not a plugin error. The order is marked Failed and the customer can pay another way.
Make it easy to say yes
Many Georgian shoppers prefer their own bank. Offering BoG card payments next to installments, and TBC installments for TBC customers, gives everyone a way to finish the order.
